View full detailsNot all pumps are created equal. Some pumps are specialized for high flow rate, high head pressure, or to move large solids. Our high head effluent pumps are ideal for moving clear wastewater effluent when a substantial pressure is required. These pumps are easily identified, because they are tall and cylindrical.
Our high head effluent pumps are multistage water pumps, and they are sometimes called “Turbine pumps”. It is important to remember that these pumps cannot handle large solids. A dirty tank can easily clog up a high head effluent pump and ruin it. Our high head effluent pumps should be put into clean tanks with well treated wastewater.
Middle suction and bottom suction are our two major categories for high head effluent pumps. Bottom suction pumps have a screen near the bottom where they draw in effluent, and are particularly useful if you are trying to get the most volume out of your pump tank.
The middle suction variety have an intake towards the middle of their body. Installers often favor middle suction pumps because they have an inlet that is farther away from any sediment that may settle to the bottom of the pump tank. That reduces the risk that these pumps will become clogged.
These pumps also are available in a variety of flow rates. At a particular head pressure, the pump will be moving its rated flow rate. The vast majority of aerobic septic systems will use a twenty gallon per minute effluent pump. However, thirty gallon per minute pumps are available.
