An aerobic septic system would not be complete without the addition of a properly functioning air pump. If you are in the market for a new air pump, we would recommend The Troy Air R-500. This model is a premium air pump that is known for its ability to effectively remove waste from your septic system. All Hoot R-500 septic air pumps are a linear diaphragm manufactured for Hoot to aerate their 500 GPD systems. This air pump forces air into the septic tank so that wastewater mixes with solids and subsequently breaks down. When your Hoot system lacks an air pump, it will begin to malfunction and produce a foul smelling discharge. If you notice that your septic tank is beginning to fail, purchasing a new septic air pump should be a definitive priority. The Troy Air R500 models are built with exceptional quality in mind. They have a long service life and can be rebuilt multiple times. In addition a rebuild kit may be purchased to facilitate the maintenance of this model. Please note that this pump is a direct replacement for the Hoot Troy Air R-500 and meets all NSF guidelines. Check your air pump to make sure that this aerator is a good fit.
You (the customer) are responsible for making sure you are following all applicable laws and regulations in your area before replacing your septic air pump yourself. Does this pump need a controller or it just plug and go
Typically just plug and go! That being said, once plugged in it will run 24/7 so if you'd like to control the run times or know when there is a problem then you may consider connecting a control panel with a built-in pressure switch and timer.
